Advice for Mums and Dads to be During Covid-19

We will be talking to Avril Flynn (Midwife) who will be taking questions you may have in relation to giving birth in the next few weeks. Please share with any Mums or Dads to Be who may be feeling a little overwhelmed with all the changes in our Maternity Hospitals. Some Practical support to ease this very special time in your lives

Posted by Irish Online Counselling & Psychotherapy Service on Monday, March 23, 2020

This new Covid-19 reality brings with its huge challenges, not least for prospective parents, pregnant people and those who have just given birth.  This morning I was delighted to be asked by Mary McHugh from to have a talk about some of the concern and worries, and to explain some of the measures in maternity units and hospitals and why these measures are necessary to safeguard everyone.

For anyone with any concerns or if you are looking for information regarding measures being taken then the first port of call is to check the website of whatever maternity unit you are attending.  The individual restrictions and advice, which is being constantly updated, will be there for you to refer to.

I also wanted to compile a list of birth workers, lactation consultants and antenatal practitioners who are now working online to support parents.  While you are in isolation, I want you to know that there is support out there. My colleagues and I want to help you in this time of being ‘Cocooned’, to know that we are here for you and your family.

The below list is not exhaustive, it is just people who messaged me with their details. I have listed people alphabetically. If anyone wishes to add their details, then just email me.
