Traumatic Birth Recovery

Posted on: 18 February, 2020

Trauma in and around birth is something that so many women in Ireland and further afield live with every day. Increasingly, I have been working with more and more women whom this affects. Often, it is only when you get pregnant again or are planning more children that the anxiety , fear, pain and difficulties of previous negative experiences come to the fore. This can deeply impact on a current pregnancy or birth plan & preparation.

I have just completed a course on ‘Bring Relief with your Debrief’ and I will be continuing with this area of study. Alexandra Heath is an amazing Doula and Hypnotherapist with years of experience in helping those affected by birth trauma. She has designed several courses aimed at people who work in and around birth. I am learning so much about this really important area. Every pregnant person deserves to be looked after by someone who is aware of what trauma informed care is, and how to provide it. My aim is to be able to help my clients achieve some healing by having a better experience this time round, than the one in their past.

For far too long women have had to suffer with horrific experiences , sub-par care and then the resulting trauma, with no idea where to get help, or even to process what has happened.

Optimising perinatal mental health and healing wounds both mentally and physically is possible with he right help and guidance. I am determined to help as many people as I can in my practice. I’m excited to start the next course in the next few weeks, and continue my studies of this important part of the care that I provide.

If you, or someone you know have had a troubling experience and want to plan a better birth and more positive experience next time round, don’t hesitate to contact me.
